In Today's Economy, A Family Owned Business Is Typically The First To Suffer. I'm Proud to Say
That, Fortunately, The Soundscape Recording Studio Has Been Able To Stay Afloat Throughout
These Tough Times. Over The Years We Have Certainly Tossed Around The Idea Of "Throwing
In The Towel", Not Exactly What We Would Have Wanted But Lets Face It, It Really Hasn't Been
That Easy. I Truly Hate To Speak To Soon, But I Feel As Though We Have Now Passed Some
Of Those Bigger Obstacles! In My Personal Opinion, It Is A Direct Result Of Your Genuine
Loyalty.
I Want You To Know That We Sincerely Appreciate Your Business. Serving Your Recording,
Mixing & Mastering Needs With The Utmost Quality Is And Always Will Be Our Number One Goal!
With Your Success In Mind, Lets Make A Hit Record! - Recording, Mixing Engineer Tim Smith

Studio Update 3-8-11
Paddlefish "Something Fishy"
The 20th Anniversary
Of A Detroit Classic!
Paddlefish "Something Fishy"
It Was A Big Old Building, In Fact It Used To Be A Roller Skating Rink.
But To Most It Was Home Base For One Of The Areas Most Powerful Young
Rock Groups. You've Probably Already Guessed That I'm Referring To The
Historic Chucker's Hall Just Outside Detroit In Walled Lake Michigan!
Almost 20 Years Ago (To The Date), Jesse Fisher, Jason "Buck Naked"
Buchannon, Tim Smith & Wes Byrne Blew Up On The Detroit Music Scene
With Their Unique Blend Of Funk, Rock & Blues. The Group, Managed At
The Time By Dave Gilbert (The Rockets) & Jack Burningtree (Pair Of Jacks
Records/ The Burning Tree Band), Produced Their First Local Ground
Breaking Release Appropriately Titled "Something Fishy".
In Support Of "Something Fishy", The Young Boys (Ages 14-15) Played The
Detroit Circuit Performing In Various Venues Such As "The Ritz" (Original
Location), Blondies (Original Location), "The I Rock", "The Center Stage",
"Chucker's Hall", & "The Studio Lounge"
Just To Name A Few! "...It Was Tough,
Mostly Due To Our Age But In Reality I
Actually Think It Was Somewhat Easier
To Get The Attention Of Labels. It's
Just A Lot More Saturated Now."
-Tim Smith, Drums
Jack & Dave Booked The Groups Studio Dates At The Now Defunct
"Medowland Studios" In Commerce Twp Michigan. Somehow The Guys
Managed To Track & Mix All Ten Songs For "Something Fishy" In About
Fifteen Hours! (No Luxury Of The "Undo Button" To Slow You Down!)
Something Fishy: Track List
|
1. Alone
2. Ish Kabibae
3. Bitchen
4. Inside
5. The Dog Song
6. The Blindfold
7. Paddlefish
8. Lay Low
9. Dirty Work
10.I Know You
Their Sophomore Effort,
"Dreadlochness", Unfortunately Was
Never Officially Released. Like Most
Bands, The Line Up Changed Slightly
Over The Years Before Paddlefish
Called It Quits In 1995. Sorry, No Sign
Of A Reunion....Yet ;)

Saginaw Michigan based Metal/
Melodic/ Rock group Last Born
Legend is getting great gigs!
With their recent spots supporting
national acts like Hurt, Saliva & Rev
Theory the five piece guitar driven
rock outfit can now add Taproot to
their bucket list!
The guys spent a few months here at
The Soundscape in the fall of 2010
working on an EP and are currently
writing for a full length.
If you are looking to have your face
ripped off by a sound-wave, hit up
The Ritz in Warren Michigan on June
11th for the return of Taproot with
Special Guest Last Born Legend! I'm
sure you will not be disappointed.
Galactic Dust Recording Artist,
Sample The Martian lifts off...
For eMpyre RamireX , I feel its been
one hell of a year both personally and
musically! Dating back to the initial
release "Self Made Loner", STM has
managed to pull a pretty significant
amount of downloads (thousands).
Outside of that he had his surprise
sticker appearance in the ABC Hit TV
show Detroit 1-8-7 and lets not forget
about his guest performance in Ann
Arbor Michigan at the famous Blind
Pig with MC Lars!
Does it end there? No. In January,
STM was nominated for two, well
deserved, Outstanding Detroit Music
Awards! We'll get you an update
after the official ceremony scheduled
for Friday April 15th at the Fillmore in
Detroit MI.
What more can we say, he's doing
BIG things! Almost forgot the latest,
Sample The Martian gets a great write
up in Real Detroit Weekly!
