The Official Detroit Demo Songwriter Society Was Built Around This Very
Idea.
Pulling Together Ambitious, Musicians For The Sole Purpose Of Expanding
And Perfecting Each Other's Songwriting Skills.
"...It Should Come As No Surprise That Detroit Has An Enormous Amount Of
Talent, A Great Deal Of Which Are Songwriting Musicians. So with This
Being Said, I Thought It Would Be A Fantastic Idea To Bring Them Altogether.
Veterans And Rookies Alike!" Tim Smith
Hosted By Recording, Mixing Engineer Tim Smith!

So How Does
Work?
We Are A Songwriter Society That Meets Once Every Other Month, At The Soundscape Recording Studio In Royal Oak, To Write & Record One Song Collectively.
Egos Are Always Left At The Door And All Musician Songwriters Are Welcome To Join. There Is Never A Fee, And You Are Not Required To Attend Every Session. All We Ask Is That You RSVP, Be Motivated, Open Minded And Serious About The Art & Craft Of Writing Great Songs.
These Unique Recording Sessions Can Be A Great Networking Tool For Local Musicians. Obviously, "Song Ownership Rights" Could Become An Issue. So For That Reason, All Involved May Be Asked To Sign A "Songwriters Collaboration Contract" Via "The American Songwriters Guild".
We Are Not Doing This To Get Rich, Purely To Have Fun And Of Course We Can Hopefully Learn A Few Tips Or Techniques From Other Fellow Musician Songwriters Like Ourselves! *************

Frequently Asked Questions:
|
Is There A Limit On The Number Of Musician Songwriters
That Can Attend Each Session? Yes, We Set A Limit Of (6) Who
Can Attend Each Session. This Is Why We Ask You To RSVP At Least
Two Weeks In Advance.
Do We Need To Bring Instruments And Amplifiers? Yes, If
You Are An Electric Guitar Or Electric Bass Player You Should Bring Your
Usual Gear. Acoustic Guitar Players Should Also Come Prepared. As
Far As Drums, We Do Have A "House Set" As Well As A Variety Of
Percussion Instruments Too.
Can I Attend Even If I Don't Play An Instrument, But I Write
Songs? Yes, You Are More Than Welcome And Are Encouraged To Join
Us.
I Sing And Write Lyrics, Can I Attend? Absolutely, We Insist. In
Fact, We'd Like To Have A Few Different Lyric Writers At Each Session.
How Do I Become A Member? You Simply RSVP, Show Up And
Be An Active Participant.
What Will Happen To The Music We Collectively Write And
Record? Those Who Took Part In That "Detroit Demo" Session, Which
Gave Birth To The Recording In Question, Will Each Own An Equal Share
(And Have The Collaboration Contracts To Prove It)
What Happens If I Show Up Late For A "Detroit Demo
Session"? Well, You Certainly Won't Be "The Star Of The Night" Among
Members! But Thats Ok, It's All About Fun.
**Detroit Demo Reserves The Right To Cancel And/Or Post Pone A
Detroit Demo Night. All RSVP Attendees Would Be Notified If This
Were To Happen.
**Detroit Demo Nights That Land On A Holiday Will Be Moved To
The Following Monday.
